SOUTHERN HUMBOLDT, Ca. (KIEM) – A vegetation fire has grown to about four acres in Southern Humboldt as of Friday evening. Emergency responders from multiple local agencies have been called in for help.
The blaze was reported just after 4:00PM on Friday, near Mattole Road and lower Squaw Creek. The Petrolia Volunteer Fire Department arrived on scene, and flames were visible in heavy brush.
Fortuna, Rio dell, and Honeydew Volunteer Fire departments, as well as Cal Fire engines, a plane, and helicopter are all aiding in the efforts to bring the fire under control.
No structures are currently threatened. As we learn more, we will bring that information to you online and on air.
